Google Android One GM 5Plus Now Available for Pre-Order in Nepal

Google's Android One initiative originally targeted budget-conscious users by providing a clean Android experience, but earlier models struggled due to compromised hardware to keep costs low. Now, partnerships with manufacturers like General Mobile have shifted focus to delivering better value, with devices priced around $300. The latest addition, the General Mobile GM 5Plus, is now available for pre-order in Nepal at Rs. 25,000, with sales commencing on April 4, 2017. Early birds securing a pre-order will be the first to receive the device.

The GM 5Plus features a 5.5-inch Full HD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, complemented by a 2.5D glass design. It is built around a metal frame with a textured plastic back, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 Octa-core 64-bit processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB. Both the rear and front cameras offer 13MP resolution with autofocus and flash support. A sizable 3100mAh battery ensures longevity, and the device includes USB Type-C along with QuickCharge 3.0 compatibility. As an Android One device, it runs stock Android 7 Nougat and will receive updates directly from Google.

While the GM 5Plus presents a compelling case for those valuing an unadulterated Android experience, it falls short in one area compared to competitors at similar price points: it lacks a fingerprint sensor. Despite this, the device remains a strong contender for users prioritizing software purity and timely updates.
