Apple Launches 2024 iMac With M4 Chip, New Colors and Updated Pricing for Nepal

Apple has officially launched the 2024 version of its all-in-one iMac, featuring the new M4 chip and a range of upgrades. After its global unveiling in October, the device is now available in Nepal, allowing local users to get up close with its enhanced performance, expanded configuration options and fresh aesthetic.

Price and Availability The base model iMac with the M4 chip starts at NPR 230,000. Prices climb depending on storage configuration, reaching up to NPR 335,000 for the top-end model. All configurations are now available from authorized Apple retailers and Apple Authorized Resellers across Nepal.

Performance and Configuration The 2024 iMac is powered by Apple’s M4 chip, which brings notable performance improvements over previous generations. The CPU features up to 10 cores — four for performance tasks and six for efficiency — making it 1.7 times faster than the original M1 and 1.3 times quicker than the M3 for workloads like Excel processing. The 10-core GPU delivers twice the speed of the M1 and 1.1 times the performance of the M3, especially beneficial for gaming and graphics-intensive applications. The Neural Engine has also been tripled in speed compared to the M1.

Apple has expanded the RAM and storage options. The base model includes 16GB of RAM, with the ability to upgrade to 24GB or 32GB. Storage starts at 256GB and can be expanded up to 2TB.

Display and Design The iMac retains its popular 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, with an optional nano-texture glass layer available for an additional $200 to reduce glare. The 2024 model also introduces six new color options: aqua blue, lavender purple, bubblegum pink, jade green, lemon sherbet yellow and lighter orange, alongside the classic silver finish.

Connectivity and Ports Connectivity varies between models. The premium configuration includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports with built-in Ethernet, supporting up to two 6K 60Hz or one 8K 120Hz external displays. The base model comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports without Ethernet, though Ethernet support can be added for an extra $30.

The camera and audio setup remains unchanged from earlier iMacs, featuring a 12MP 1080p webcam with Center Stage and Desk View, along with a triple microphone array and six built-in speakers.

Accessories To align with modern standards, Apple has updated its accessories to USB-C. The Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad are now USB-C compatible and color-matched to the iMac.
