Apple Revamps Mac Mini With Updated Hardware and Enhanced Ports

Apple has given its Mac mini a significant overhaul, marking the first major update in four years. The renewed model brings updated internal components, enhanced cooling, expanded connectivity, and broader storage configurations, catering to users who value a small, quiet, and versatile computer.

The base model is priced at $799 and features an 8th-generation Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of 2666MHz DDR4 RAM, a 128GB SSD, Intel UHD 630 graphics, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Customers can configure the Mac mini up to the high-end $4,199 variant, which includes an 8th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, 64GB of 2666MHz DDR4 RAM, a 2TB SSD, Intel UHD 630 graphics, and a 10-gigabit Ethernet connection. An additional $299.99 option provides Final Cut Pro X software.

Apple states that the new Mac mini delivers up to five times the system performance and up to 60% faster graphics processing compared to its predecessor. Improved cooling mechanisms allow the device to maintain up to 70% higher sustained power levels by doubling the internal airflow. The system also integrates Apple’s T2 security chip for enhanced protection.

Connectivity has been a key focus in this revision. The Mac mini offers an optional 10-gigabit Ethernet port, four Thunderbolt 3 ports capable of 40Gbps data transfer speeds, one HDMI 2.0 port that supports linking up to two 4K displays or a single 5K monitor, two USB 3 ports, and a traditional headphone jack. Gamers will appreciate the compatibility with Blackmagic’s Mac-friendly eGPU solutions for additional graphical power.

The updated Mac mini retains its sleek, 100% recyclable aluminum chassis with a fresh space gray finish and runs on the latest macOS Mojave operating system. Sales will commence on November 7, providing users with a compact yet capable machine for work, creativity, or entertainment.
