Ayaneo Introduces Pocket Vert: A Retro-Inspired Vertical Handheld Gamer

Ayaneo has announced a new addition to its handheld gaming lineup: the Pocket Vert. Unlike the company’s typical horizontal designs, this model adopts a vertical orientation that pays homage to classic portable gaming devices, while using modern materials and engineering.

The Pocket Vert sports an 86.4 × 143 × 20.5 mm metal body that has been CNC-machined for precision, with a single glass panel on the front. It comes in three color options: Nightfall Black, Moonlight White, and Lava Red. A 3.5-inch LTPS LCD panel delivers a sharp 1600×1440 resolution, offering crisp visuals suited for retro-style gameplay.

Controls on the device are notably clean, with no printed labels. All buttons feature a transparent, crystal-like finish, including diamond-cut shoulder buttons. A standout feature is the hidden dual-mode smart touchpad beneath the front glass, which can function as a virtual left stick, right stick, dual-stick setup, or even a mouse. The MagicSwitch button allows users to access quick functions through a long press.

Software-wise, the Pocket Vert runs Ayaneo’s proprietary AyaSpace and AyaHome platforms. Users can customize key bindings, spoof devices, and utilize the updated Free Feel key mapping version 1.5. The system also includes AI-powered translation capabilities. Audio is handled by stereo dual speakers, and the device is powered by a sizable 6000mAh battery.

However, Ayaneo has not yet disclosed critical specifications such as the processor, RAM, storage capacity, or an official launch timeline. As a result, potential buyers will need to wait for further updates before they can assess the full capabilities of this retro-inspired handheld.
