Framework Laptop 16 (2025) Now Offers RTX 5070 GPU Option

Framework has announced a significant update to its flagship Laptop 16 for 2025, introducing a new configuration option featuring NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5070 mobile GPU. This addition allows users to equip the Laptop 16 with robust graphics performance, with the RTX 5070 module offering 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM and a 100W TGP. For those who prefer AMD, Framework also offers the 2nd-gen Radeon RX 7700 S GPU with similar specifications.

The Laptop 16 retains its signature minimalist design, combining an aluminum lid with a magnesium base, and has received an updated thermal system with new heatsinks and fan blades for better heat management. The 16-inch IPS display remains a standout feature, boasting a WQXGA resolution (2560 x 1600), a smooth 165Hz refresh rate, anti-glare finish, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 9ms response time, and a peak brightness of 500 nits. When paired with the NVIDIA GPU, the display gains G-SYNC support for improved gaming performance.

Under the hood, the Laptop 16 offers two powerful AMD processor options: the Ryzen AI 7 350 with 8 cores and 16 threads, and the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 featuring 12 cores and 24 threads. Memory configuration includes up to 96GB of DDR5-5600 RAM across two SO-DIMM slots. Storage options are exceptionally flexible, with an M.2 2280 slot supporting up to 8TB SSDs and a secondary M.2 2230 slot for up to 2TB SSDs.

Battery capacity remains at 85 Wh, but Framework has introduced a new 240W GaN USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery 3.1, making it the first laptop manufacturer to ship such a high-power adapter. The Laptop 16 continues to excel in customization with six user-selectable expansion card slots, allowing for the addition of ports such as USB 4 Type-C, USB-A, HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, and more. The device now includes an AMD RZ717 WiFi 7 module supporting the 6 GHz band.

Additional updates include new keyboard designs for both Linux and Windows users, along with updated firmware to prevent accidental wake-up events. The 2nd-gen webcam module features a 1080p camera with a physical privacy switch. The Laptop 16 also comes equipped with stereo speakers, a built-in fingerprint reader, and a Windows Precision touchpad.

The Framework Laptop 16 2025 is now available for pre-order in select markets, including the US, Canada, and parts of Europe, in both DIY and pre-built configurations. The DIY edition starts at USD 1,499, with the RTX 5070 GPU module priced at USD 650 and the Radeon 7700 S GPU module at USD 300. The pre-built system starts at USD 1,799.
