Gionee Marathon M5 Plus Debuts in Nepal With 6-Inch Display and Advanced Battery Tech

Teletalk Pvt. Ltd., the official distributor for Gionee smartphones in Nepal, has launched the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus, the successor to the popular Marathon M5. The device features a large 6-inch 1080P display and is now available in Gionee retail stores for NPR 39,999.

A defining feature of the Marathon series, the M5 Plus highlights advanced battery technology. While it has a slightly smaller 5020mAh battery compared to the M5’s 6020mAh, it retains 90 percent of its capacity after approximately 600 charging cycles, equating to around two years of regular use. The phone supports fast charging with a 9V/2A 18W charger, capable of a full charge in about two hours, and incorporates dual-charging chips to ensure rapid charging while keeping the device cool.

The M5 Plus sports a metallic build and weighs 208 grams. Despite the sizable 6-inch screen, it maintains a compact form factor with a screen-to-body ratio of 75.5 percent, positioning it among the more streamlined phablets. The display utilizes an energy-efficient AMOLED panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octacore MediaTek MT6753 processor, running at 1.3GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM. Storage options include 64GB of internal memory and a dedicated microSD card slot, expandable up to an additional 128GB. The camera setup consists of a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens, phase-detection autofocus, and an LED flash, complemented by a 5MP front camera. A fingerprint scanner is included, promising unlock times of just 0.3 seconds. Connectivity features dual SIM support, WiFi, GPS, and a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector.

For instance, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, available for NPR 25,000, features a superior 16MP camera and a more powerful chipset. At around NPR 40,000, the OnePlus Two offers a flagship Snapdragon 810 processor and an enhanced overall user experience.
