Over the past few weeks, I have been using the Google Pixel 10 as my daily driver. Despite being another compact phone in a crowded market, it brings some notable features to the table. However, whether it justifies its INR 80,000 price tag is another question entirely.
Performance The biggest letdown is the Tensor G5 processor. Despite moving to TSMC's 3nm process, it lags behind competitors in benchmarks. Gaming performance is particularly disappointing, with PUBG Mobile struggling to maintain stable 60fps and frequent overheating during demanding tasks.
Software Google continues to excel in software. The Pixel 10 offers smooth animations, intuitive navigation, and improved thermal management during light tasks. However, prolonged use, such as group video calls, still leads to noticeable heat buildup.
Battery and Charging Battery life is a highlight, with around 7 hours of screen-on time on heavy usage days and up to 9 hours on lighter days. The new magnetic Qi2 wireless charging, branded PixelSnap, is convenient but costs a steep INR 4,500, matching Apple's MagSafe price.
Design and Display The design remains largely unchanged from the Pixel 9, with a solid build featuring Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display. While it lacks adaptive refresh rates, the screen delivers excellent brightness, vibrant colors, and smooth touch response. The compact form factor is comfortable, though slightly thicker than some rivals.
Camera The camera department is mixed. The addition of a 5x telephoto lens improves zoom capabilities, and natural color reproduction remains a strength. However, the main and ultra-wide cameras are downgraded from the Pixel 9, with the ultra-wide lacking autofocus for macro shots. Portraits are a significant disappointment, with softer details and less accurate edge detection compared to Samsung's offerings. Video quality also falls short, with softness and occasional jitter.
Verdict While the Pixel 10 offers a fantastic software experience and decent battery life, its high price, underwhelming performance, and regressions in camera capabilities make it hard to recommend. More affordable options like the Vivo X200 FE or last year's iPhone 16 offer better value for most users.
