GoPro Hero 9 Black Lands in Nepal With 5K Video Capability

The GoPro Hero 9 Black, the latest flagship action camera from GoPro Inc, has been launched in Nepal. This model brings several significant improvements over its predecessor, including a bigger battery, the addition of a front-mounted LCD screen, and the ability to record videos in 5K resolution.

Weighing in at approximately 158 grams, the Hero 9 Black is slightly heavier than the Hero 8 and even the GoPro Max. Despite the added weight, users benefit from a front-facing 1.4-inch display, which helps in framing shots more effectively, although it is not touch-sensitive. The rear screen has also been upgraded to 2.27 inches, offering larger on-screen buttons and an improved viewing experience.

One of the key upgrades is the larger 1720mAh battery, which promises around 30% more usage time than the Hero 8’s 1220mAh battery and performs better in cooler conditions.

In terms of video capabilities, the Hero 9 Black features a new 23.6MP sensor that can capture 5K videos at 30 or 24 frames per second, along with the ability to take still photos at 20MP. While 4K recording remains at 60 frames per second, the camera also supports 2.4K at 120 frames per second and 1080p at 240 frames per second.

The camera remains compatible with various mods such as the Media Mod, Display Mod, and Light Mod. A notable enhancement is the removable lens cover, allowing users to attach additional lenses, including the Max Mod, which extends the camera’s capabilities to mimic the GoPro Max’s features like improved HyperSmooth stabilization, wider field of view, and 360-degree horizon steadying.

New features include HyperSmooth 3.0 for enhanced in-camera stabilization and TimeWarp 3.0, which adds a half-speed option. Both features work with the in-camera horizon leveling, though only in Linear video mode. Additional power tools such as Scheduled Capture, Duration Capture, and HindSight offer more control over recording start times, stop times, and capturing moments just before recording begins.

Currently, the GoPro Hero 9 Black is available in Nepal for NPR 65,500 and can be purchased from various gadget retailers across the country.
