HMD Touch 4G Arrives as a Unique Blend of Feature Phone and Smartphone

HMD Global, the Finnish company behind Nokia phones, has unveiled an unusual new device called the HMD Touch 4G. This model sits between a traditional feature phone and a modern smartphone, offering a mix of simple design with a few smart functions. The device measures 102 millimeters in height, weighs just 100 grams, and is relatively thick at 10.85 millimeters. It sports a retro look with thick bezels and a single button at the bottom, while also adding a modern circular camera ring reminiscent of recent Chinese smartphone trends. The phone comes in Cyan and Dark Blue colors and carries an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance.

The display is a basic 3.2-inch touchscreen with QVGA resolution (320 by 240 pixels), covered by 2.5D glass. Under the hood, it uses a single-core Unisoc T127 processor, paired with only 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage, though users can expand storage up to 32GB via a microSD card. What sets it apart is the operating system: instead of Android or iOS, the HMD Touch 4G runs on a lightweight RTOS Touch, similar to systems found on some smartwatches. This OS enables the "Cloud Phone Service," allowing limited browser-based apps for news, weather, and other basic information. The phone also includes a pre-installed Express Chat app for sending texts, voice messages, images, and making video calls to Android and iOS users with the same app, although an iPhone download link is not currently available.

For photography, the device has a modest 2MP rear camera with an LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera. Power comes from a removable 1950mAh battery, which HMD claims can last up to 30 hours on a single charge. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for FM radio or music listening. The phone supports dual SIMs and features a unique "Quick-Call" button for recording voice messages.

Currently, the HMD Touch 4G is only available in India, priced at INR 3,999. If it reaches the Nepalese market, expectations are for it to be priced around NPR 6,999. For now, potential buyers may want to consider other recently reviewed options such as the Vivo X200 FE.
