Honor 500 Debuts With LTPO Display and 8000mAh Battery

Honor has officially introduced the Honor 500 series in China, refreshing its popular lineup with notable upgrades for 2025. The new model is anticipated to reach Nepal in the near future, offering an attractive mix of performance and features for local consumers.

The Honor 500 features a flat 6.55-inch LTPO OLED display, replacing the curved panel found in its predecessor, the Honor 400. This display delivers a sharp 2736 × 1264 FHD+ resolution, a smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and impressive 6000 nits peak brightness, making it easy to view even in bright sunlight. The device sports extremely thin 1.05mm bezels and adopts a new camera visor design similar to Apple's style, moving away from the rounded module seen in earlier models. Constructed with a glass back and aluminum frame, the phone feels premium but is also heavier than the Honor 400 due to its larger battery and reinforced build. Durability has been enhanced with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, surpassing the IP65 rating of the previous generation.

Under the hood, the Honor 500 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, a significant leap from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 used in the Honor 400. This performance upgrade is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. The device runs on MagicOS 10.0 based on Android 16, though details on software updates have not yet been disclosed.

Camera capabilities remain a highlight of the series, although changes to the optics are relatively minor. The main rear camera stays at 200MP with OIS, while the ultrawide remains at 12MP. Improvements include better image stabilization and the addition of a 3D depth sensor to the 50MP front camera setup. Video recording capabilities remain at 4K for the front camera.

One of the most impressive features of the Honor 500 is its massive 8000mAh Si-C battery, a substantial increase from the 6000mAh battery in the Honor 400. This large capacity is supported by 80W wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging, ensuring quick power-ups and the ability to charge other devices.

Connectivity options have also been expanded with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and broader GNSS support, along with 5G SA/NSA, NFC, infrared, and USB-C audio. Security is handled by an optical in-display fingerprint sensor.

In China, the Honor 500 starts at CNY 2,699 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. When it arrives in Nepal, the base model is expected to start around NPR 67,999, with higher storage configurations priced accordingly. Pre-orders are already live in China, with sales set to begin on November 27. The device should make its way to Nepal shortly after.
