Honor Magic 8 Launches with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 7000mAh Battery

Honor has officially unveiled the Magic 8, the successor to last year's Magic 7 series. This new flagship comes packed with impressive features, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is among the most powerful chips available today. The Magic 8 measures 7.95mm in thickness and weighs 205g, boasting an IP69K/69/68 rating for durability. It is protected by Honor's Giant Rhino Glass and includes an IR blaster along with a dedicated camera control button.

The display is a 6.58-inch 1.5K 8T LTPO flat OLED panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an incredible 6000 nits peak brightness, ensuring excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. Honor has equipped the phone with 4320Hz PWM dimming for reduced eye strain.

Under the hood, the Magic 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and options up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Honor also integrates its C1+ and E2 chips to enhance connectivity and display performance. A notable addition is the dedicated AI button, which when double-pressed launches the camera, and a long-press activates Yoyo Video Call. However, Honor has moved away from Google Gemini, focusing instead on its own AI ecosystem.

The camera system includes a triple setup with a 50MP OIS main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. The front camera is a 50MP sensor ideal for selfies. The Magic 8 runs on MagicOS 10, based on Android 16, and features Honor's AI-based digital image stabilization to complement the physical OIS.

One of the standout features is the massive 7000mAh battery, supporting 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. The device also includes dual speakers and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for added security.

In terms of pricing, the Honor Magic 8 is currently available for pre-order in China, with sales starting on October 23. In Nepal, the device is expected to start at NPR 125,000 for the base model, with higher configurations reaching up to NPR 155,000.
