Honor Unveils Concept Robot Phone with Gimbal Camera System

Honor has unveiled an intriguing concept device called the Robot Phone, just days after releasing its flagship Honor Magic 8 and Honor Magic 8 Pro models. The company’s teaser video provides a detailed glimpse of this futuristic gadget, highlighting a retractable gimbal camera that strongly resembles the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 or the anticipated Osmo Pocket 4.

The gimbal camera’s smooth, autonomous movements evoke a sense of personality, reminiscent of Disney’s animated robot WALL-E. While the footage captured by the camera appears to be AI-generated, the mechanism enables the device to capture images from multiple angles. Notably, the gimbal seems capable of producing subtle noises, mimicking human-like interaction, though it is unclear whether this feature is part of the promotional presentation.

Honor describes the Robot Phone as a 'super brain of AI' combined with the 'super mobility of a robot.' The company suggests that the device can instantly gather environmental data and respond to visual inputs, essentially acting as a personal cameraman that offers recommendations, such as fashion advice, as seen in the teaser.

Beyond the standout gimbal camera, the Robot Phone’s overall design resembles a typical modern smartphone, complete with additional back sensors and a front selfie camera. The back of the device displays Honor’s branding replaced by an alpha symbol, signifying its alignment with the Honor Alpha Plan strategy.

Although the Robot Phone is labeled as a concept, Honor has confirmed its appearance at MWC Barcelona 2026, scheduled for March 2 to March 5. The company expects to provide an up-close look at the device during the event, though no official launch details are anticipated at this stage. This innovative concept could inspire other manufacturers to explore unique product designs in the coming years.
