Huawei Honor 5X Debuts with Fingerprint Sensor in Mid-Range Segment

Huawei’s Honor brand, recognized for delivering strong value in the smartphone market, has launched the Honor 5X, a new mid-range device that adds a fingerprint sensor to its feature set. This addition brings enhanced security to a device that remains affordable for most users.

The Honor 5X carries forward the 5.5-inch display from its predecessor, the Honor 4X, but upgrades it to full HD 1080p resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 processor, a 64-bit chip that combines a quad-core 1.7GHz CPU with another quad-core 1.2GHz CPU, paired with an Adreno 405 GPU. Storage options include 16GB of internal memory, with support for microSD cards up to 64GB.

Design-wise, the phone features a metal body that gives it a premium look and feel, especially considering its price. Photography tasks are handled by a 13MP rear camera with a dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, and a 28mm wide-angle lens, backed by a 5MP front camera with similar advanced optics. The device houses a non-removable 3000mAh battery that supports quick charging 3.0 technology.

Connectivity options are robust, supporting dual SIMs with 4G LTE, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, layered with EMUI 3.1.
