Huawei Takes the Lead in Global Smartwatch Market for Q2 2025
For the first time ever, Huawei has overtaken Apple to become the world’s number one smartwatch brand in the second quarter of 2025, based on newly released market data. According to a report from Counterpoint Research, Huawei captured a 21% share of global smartwatch shipments during that period, while Apple’s share fell to 17%.
Chinese brand Xiaomi ranked third with a 9% share, followed by another Chinese company, imoo, at 7%, and Samsung in fifth place with a 6% share. Huawei’s rise was marked by a strong 52% increase in year-over-year shipments, a stark contrast to Apple’s 3% drop. Despite this shift, overall smartwatch shipments globally still managed an 8% increase during Q2 2025.
Huawei’s success is largely attributed to its dominant performance in China, which remains its primary market. However, the brand has also been expanding its footprint in key regions such as Europe, the Middle East, and across Asia. Unlike Apple, which focuses mainly on the premium segment, Huawei offers a broad lineup that spans budget to high-end options, allowing it to appeal to a wider range of consumers worldwide.
