Apple's Rumored Foldable iPhone Design Revealed in New Renders

After years of speculation, fresh renders and rumors point to Apple finally entering the foldable smartphone market in 2026. The device, informally called the iPhone Fold, is said to adopt a book-style design rather than the clamshell approach used by many current foldables.

According to recent leaks, the iPhone Fold will feature a 5.5-inch outer screen and a larger 7.8-inch inner display when unfolded. Perhaps most notably, Apple appears to be addressing the persistent crease issue that plagues many foldables. Reports suggest the use of a pressure-dispersing metal plate, liquid metal components in the hinge area and an in-cell touch panel, all aimed at achieving a nearly crease-free experience. If realized, this could make the iPhone Fold one of the slimmest foldables available, measuring approximately 9mm when folded and just 4.5mm when open.

Under the hood, the device is expected to run on Apple's upcoming A20 Pro processor paired with the second-generation C2 modem. A high-density battery should provide solid endurance despite the larger screen real estate. Camera arrangements will reportedly include dual rear cameras in a design reminiscent of the iPhone Air, plus additional cameras on both the cover and inner displays. Notably, the iPhone Fold will apparently forgo Face ID in favor of a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button, which may be repositioned to the top edge to accommodate the folding design.

Analysts believe Apple's entry could significantly accelerate mainstream adoption of foldable phones, potentially driving a 30 percent jump in the market initially. The iPhone Fold is also said to prioritize compact, one-handed usability—similar in philosophy to devices like the Oppo Find N series—rather than simply chasing the largest possible screen size. While a 2026 launch appears likely, Apple is known to prioritize perfection over timing, so a delay cannot be entirely ruled out. For now, potential buyers will need to remain patient while following any further official updates from Apple.
