JBL PartyBox 720 Launches with Robust Battery Life for Portable Partying

JBL has introduced the PartyBox 720, a major upgrade to its portable party speaker lineup. This model stands out by offering battery-powered operation, a feature absent in its predecessor, the PartyBox 710. The new speaker combines strong audio performance with mobility, making it ideal for events away from a power source.

Design and Build

The PartyBox 720 follows the familiar JBL design language but with some notable adjustments. It is slightly larger and heavier than its predecessor, weighing 31 kg compared to the PartyBox 710’s 27.8 kg. Despite the added size, JBL has included a sturdy handle and wheels for easy transportation. The front panel retains JBL’s signature lightshow capabilities, syncing visual effects with the music. Like earlier models, it carries an IPX4 rating for splash resistance, ensuring durability in various environments.

Audio Performance

JBL has enhanced the audio setup for the PartyBox 720. It now includes two 9-inch woofers, an upgrade from the 8-inch units in the PartyBox 710, providing deeper bass response. However, the tweeters are smaller at 1.25 inches each, down from 2.75 inches previously. Combined, the system delivers 800W of RMS power and covers a frequency range of 32 Hz to 20 kHz, promising rich and dynamic sound for parties.

Battery and Connectivity

A key innovation in the PartyBox 720 is its built-in battery, marking it as JBL’s largest battery-powered speaker to date. The massive 99.02 Wh battery can sustain up to 15 hours of playtime on a single charge. For quick top-ups, a 10-minute charge provides two additional hours of playback, while a full recharge takes about three hours. JBL will also offer swappable backup batteries, allowing users to change out depleted units swiftly.

Connectivity options are extensive, including Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast support for linking multiple PartyBox 720 units. Additional ports such as USB-C, line-in, aux-in, and XLR inputs accommodate microphones, guitars, and other audio devices. The speaker can be controlled via a dedicated JBL PartyBox app available for both Android and iOS platforms.

Price and Availability in Nepal

The JBL PartyBox 720 is currently available for pre-order in the United States at USD 1,099. In Nepal, the expected launch price is around NPR 177,999, with the speaker anticipated to arrive shortly. This model presents a compelling option for those seeking a high-performance, portable party solution without needing a constant power supply.
