Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (2022) Launches in Nepal with Premium Design and AMD Power

Lenovo has expanded its popular IdeaPad lineup in Nepal with the launch of the 2022 IdeaPad 5, positioning it as a premium option for students and first-time laptop buyers. This model builds on the success of the IdeaPad Slim 1 and IdeaPad 3 series, offering a more refined design and upgraded internals.

The IdeaPad 5 sports a distinctive all-aluminum construction, setting it apart from the plastic-based IdeaPad 3. The Nepali variant features a 15.6-inch IPS display with a smooth matte finish and a solid 300 nits of brightness, making it easier to use in varied lighting conditions. While larger 14-inch and TN-panel options exist globally, the local market currently only sees the 15.6-inch model, which measures 16.9mm thick and starts at roughly 1.4kg.

Inside, the laptop is powered by AMD’s Barcelo APUs, a refined version of last year’s Cezanne chips. The Ryzen 5 5825U and Ryzen 7 5845U deliver higher base and boost clocks than their predecessors, providing a noticeable performance bump for everyday tasks. Memory configurations include 8GB or 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM, though unlike the IdeaPad 3, these are not upgradeable after purchase. Storage options include up to 1TB via an M.2 slot, with some models also offering a secondary SATA drive bay.

Battery life is solid, with the larger 56.5Wh pack rated for up to 16.1 hours of local video playback and around 11.75 hours in the MobileMark 2018 benchmark at 200 nits. The laptop ships with a 65W USB-C power adapter, and certain configurations include a faster 100W adapter. Lenovo also supports Rapid Charge Boost, which can add roughly two hours of runtime after just a 15-minute fast charge.

Connectivity includes four USB ports (two USB-C), an HDMI port, an SD card reader, and a combined audio jack. Audio is handled by stereo speakers mounted above the keyboard, a change from the bottom-facing setup in earlier IdeaPad models. The laptop also includes a backlit keyboard, a fingerprint reader for added security, and an FHD webcam with a physical privacy shutter.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (2022) is now available in Nepal through authorized distributors such as Nagmani International and select retail stores. The base AMD Ryzen 5 configuration with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD is priced at NPR 91,500.
