Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 Arrives in Nepal with Robust Business Features

Lenovo has introduced the ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 in Nepal, targeting professionals and enterprises with a blend of performance, security, and portability. This new addition to the ThinkPad lineup marks the 30th anniversary of the series and brings a larger, more capable design while retaining the iconic ThinkPad experience.

The ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H processor, an 8-core, 16-thread chip with base and boost clocks of 3.2 GHz and 4.7 GHz, respectively. It includes 16MB of L3 cache and integrated Radeon 680M graphics, with an optional AMD RX 6500M dedicated GPU featuring 4GB GDDR6 VRAM. Security is handled by ThinkShield, Lenovo’s comprehensive security suite, which includes hardware safeguards such as BIOS protection, software features like firewall and VPN support, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and remote management capabilities.

In terms of memory and storage, the laptop supports up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM running at 6400 MHz, though this memory is soldered and not upgradable. Storage options include 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB SSDs, with the Nepal-bound model featuring 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.

Design-wise, the ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 boasts a 75% recycled aluminum chassis, a first for the ThinkPad line, and a 16-inch screen surrounded by slim bezels. It features a ‘Communication Bar’ integrating an FHD webcam and dual microphones. Despite its larger size and MIL-STD-810 durability rating, the laptop remains lightweight, weighing between 1.81 and 1.95 kg.

The keyboard retains the classic ThinkPad layout, including a fingerprint reader, while the Trackpoint now offers a double-tap function for quick window access. The trackpad has been upgraded to a larger 120mm glass surface with haptic feedback. The display available in Nepal is a WUXGA (1920x1080) non-touch IPS panel with 100% sRGB coverage, a 16:10 aspect ratio, 400 nits brightness, and TUV Low Blue Light certification. Alternative configurations with WUXGA Touch and 4K+ OLED panels are also available elsewhere.

Battery life is impressive, with a 72Wh lithium battery that can charge to 80% in about an hour using the included 130W USB-C Slim Adapter. In MobileMark 2018 testing, the laptop lasted over 20.5 hours, and it can stream 1080p video for more than 28 hours at 250 nits brightness on a single charge.

Connectivity options include one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, two USB 4 ports, an SD card slot, and a headphone/microphone jack. Wireless connectivity is provided by Qualcomm WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 is priced at NPR 219,000 for the configuration with a Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H processor, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It is now available through retail stores in Nepal, making it a compelling option for users needing a robust, secure, and portable business laptop.
