Lenovo Z5 Debuts at Computex 2018 with Snapdragon 636 and Notch Design

Lenovo has officially launched the Z5 at Computex 2018, bringing a mix of promising specs and some disappointing design choices. The device sports a 6.2-inch display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and a notch at the top, similar to recent trends but falling short of expectations due to sizable side bezels. The glossy back includes a fingerprint sensor and a vertical dual-camera arrangement reminiscent of the iPhone X.

Under the hood, the Lenovo Z5 is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor paired with an Adreno 509 GPU, 6GB of RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable storage. The camera setup consists of an 8MP front shooter and a dual rear configuration with 16MP and 8MP sensors. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Lenovo's ZUI 4.0 interface and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a USB-C port.

A 3300mAh battery supports 18W fast charging, but the display resolution of 1080x2246 pixels results in an 83.6% screen-to-body ratio, which feels underwhelming given the notch design. Despite these shortcomings, the Lenovo Z5 is priced competitively, with the 6GB/64GB model costing just over $200 and the 128GB variant available for $80 more. The device will become available in China on June 12, the same day Vivo plans to reveal its own full-screen concept phone.

While the Lenovo Z5 may not meet all the hype generated by pre-launch leaks, it remains a solid option for users seeking capable performance at an affordable price.
