Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023) with M2 Pro and M2 Max Chips Now Available in Nepal

Apple has introduced the 2023 edition of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, powered by the brand-new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors. These chips extend the capabilities of the original M2, offering more CPU and GPU cores, greater memory support, and faster bandwidth for demanding workflows.

The M2 Pro chip can be configured with up to 12-core CPU and 19-core GPU, alongside up to 32GB of unified memory and double the bandwidth of the standard M2. The M2 Max takes this further with the same 12-core CPU but up to 38-core GPU, supporting up to 96GB of unified memory at a blistering 400GB/s bandwidth. Both chips include Apple’s 16-core Neural Engine, an advanced image signal processor, and the Secure Enclave for enhanced security.

Battery performance sees a notable improvement, with the 16-inch model now rated for up to 22 hours of video playback, one hour longer than its predecessor. This makes it the MacBook with the longest battery life to date. The M2 Pro configurations ship with a 140W USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to MagSafe cable for fast charging.

Connectivity has been significantly upgraded. The right side features MagSafe 3 for magnetic charging, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The left side includes an additional Thunderbolt 4 port, an HDMI 2.1 port capable of 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 240Hz, and an SDXC card slot. Users can connect up to four external displays simultaneously. Wireless connectivity now supports Wi-Fi 6E networks for faster and more stable connections.

Design-wise, the MacBook Pro 16-inch retains its sleek form factor and iconic Liquid Retina XDR display with 120Hz ProMotion, a notch for the 1080p FaceTime camera, and support for Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio. The six-speaker sound system with tweeters and force-canceling woofers remains, along with Touch ID on the Magic Keyboard for secure access and payments.

Key specifications include a 16.2-inch mini-LED display with 1600 nits peak brightness, 254 PPI, and a 3456 x 2234 pixel resolution. The device measures 0.66 inches high, 14.01 inches wide, and 9.77 inches deep, weighing 2.15 kg for M2 Pro and 2.16 kg for M2 Max models. It runs macOS Ventura out of the box.

In Nepal, pricing starts at NPR 370,000 for the base M2 Pro configuration with 16GB unified memory and 512GB SSD. The range extends to NPR 586,000 for the top-spec M2 Max model featuring 32GB unified memory and 1TB SSD. The MacBook Pro 16-inch (2023) is now available through authorized Apple retailers across Nepal.
