Key Takeaways
- Supports cameras up to 200MP and 45W fast charging with UFCS adapters
- Features octa-core CPU with speeds up to 2.4GHz and LPDDR5 memory support
- Includes ultra-long-range Bluetooth for direct phone-to-phone connections over kilometers
MediaTek has officially launched the Dimensity 7100 chipset, positioned as the follow-up to the Dimensity 7050. This new processor brings notable improvements, such as support for 200MP camera sensors, 45W fast charging compatible with UFCS universal adapters, and an innovative ultra-long-range Bluetooth feature that can connect phones directly over distances stretching into kilometers, bypassing the need for cellular networks.
The Dimensity 7100 utilizes an octa-core CPU setup, including four Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and four Arm Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0GHz. It incorporates the Arm Mali-G610 MC2 GPU and is fabricated using a 6nm process, matching the node of its predecessor, the Dimensity 7050. Memory support covers LPDDR5 speeds up to 5500Mbps and LPDDR4x up to 4266Mbps, alongside UFS 3.1 storage.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Dimensity 7100 can handle sensors up to 200MP, a jump from the 108MP limit of the Dimensity 7050. Display support reaches a maximum resolution of 1200 by 2600 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate and Billion Color HDR compatibility. The chipset also integrates a new power-management system and 45W fast charging that works with UFCS universal fast-charging adapters.
Connectivity options are robust, featuring a 5G modem that supports dual SIMs with a peak downlink speed of 3.3Gbps and MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave 3.0+ technology. The chip includes full cellular support for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, along with carrier aggregation for both 4G and 5G, 256QAM NR uplink, VoNR, Dual VoNR, and EPS fallback. Wireless connectivity consists of Wi-Fi 6 (1T1R configuration) and Bluetooth 5.4, with the added ultra-long-range Bluetooth functionality for extended wireless range without cellular dependence.
The Dimensity 7100 is expected to debut in the Infinix Note Edge and Tecno Pova Curve 2 later this month, though no specific launch timeline for Nepal or other brands has been announced yet.
