Moondrop Space Travel 2 Ultra Earbuds Debut with Advanced Planar Drivers

Moondrop has introduced the Space Travel 2 Ultra, an updated version of its well-received budget earbuds. Building on the original Space Travel model, this new release brings several notable upgrades, particularly in the audio department. The standout feature is the adoption of a 13mm annular single-magnetic planar driver, which utilizes stronger N55 magnets compared to the original’s 13mm dynamic driver with N52 magnets. This change is expected to deliver a richer bass response, among other audio improvements.

The Space Travel 2 Ultra retains the distinctive transparent chassis design of its predecessor but lacks an IP rating for dust and water resistance. In terms of connectivity, the earbuds support the LDAC codec, allowing for high-resolution audio streaming up to 24-bit/96 kHz, a first for this product line. Users can fine-tune the audio experience through the Moondrop companion app, which offers preset sound profiles and an AI-driven feature called “AI Yuki Beta 0.1” that adapts the sound based on the type of music being played.

For noise cancellation, Moondrop has opted for a feedforward-only active noise cancellation system, citing potential complications with hybrid ANC affecting bass response. The company claims this approach provides a 36% improvement in noise reduction compared to the original model. However, the use of a single microphone may raise concerns about call quality. The earbuds also include a dedicated neural processing unit to reduce ambient noise during phone calls.

Battery life remains robust, with the earbuds offering up to seven hours of playback on a single charge and approximately 24 hours when used with the charging case. The Space Travel 2 Ultra supports Bluetooth 6.0 and features multipoint connectivity, enabling pairing with two devices simultaneously. Touch controls on the earbuds allow users to manage media playback, adjust ANC settings, and toggle transparency mode.

While the Moondrop Space Travel 2 Ultra is officially priced at USD 39.99 internationally, it is not set to receive official distribution in Nepal. However, market sources suggest that the device will likely enter the local market through third-party importers at an estimated price of NPR 6,999.
