Motorola Unveils Moto G (2026) with Android 16 and Enhanced Selfie Camera

Motorola has announced the Moto G (2026) for the global market, bringing minor updates to its well-known budget smartphone. While the core design and many internal components remain unchanged from the 2025 model, the new release includes a few notable improvements that may appeal to cost-conscious buyers.

The device retains its 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, though the resolution stays at 1604 x 720 pixels and peak brightness reaches 1000 nits. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and features a vegan leather finish for a softer touch. Measuring 202 grams and 8.44 mm thick, the phone is IP52 rated for dust and light splash resistance. It comes in two color options: Slipstream and Cattleya Orchid.

Under the hood, the Moto G (2026) uses the same MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor as its predecessor, a reliable 6nm chip suitable for everyday tasks. It offers 4GB of RAM, which feels somewhat limited by today's standards, paired with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 1TB. A significant software upgrade is Android 16, launched alongside Motorola's lightweight My UX interface, which avoids heavy bloatware.

Camera capabilities see minimal change, with a 50MP main sensor and a secondary 2MP macro lens that serves mainly for specification padding. The front camera, however, receives a meaningful boost from 16MP to 32MP, offering sharper selfies.

Battery capacity increases slightly from 5000mAh to 5200mAh, paired with a noticeable improvement in charging speed to 30W, up from the previous 18W. Despite the modest battery growth, the phone supports stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and retains the increasingly rare 3.5mm headphone jack, a welcome feature for wired earphone users.

Connectivity options cover all essential bases, including 5G (SA and NSA), dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and USB-C. The device supports dual SIM use with a physical slot and eSIM, plus a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage.

In the United States, the Moto G (2026) will launch at $199.99 and become available through Motorola's official website starting December 11, 2025. For the Nepalese market, the expected starting price is NPR 22,999, making it a competitive option in the budget smartphone segment.
