Motorola Launches Moto G5 and G5 Plus With Updated Design and Enhanced Features

Motorola has announced the Moto G5 and G5 Plus at MWC 2017, continuing its tradition of delivering great value smartphones. These latest additions to the G series bring a refreshed metal design, replacing the previous plastic build, and introduce a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.

Both devices run on Android Nougat and will be available from March in three color options: Lunar Grey, Fine Gold, and a carrier-exclusive Sapphire Blue. The Moto G5 is priced to start at EUR 199, approximately INR 14,000, while the Moto G5 Plus begins at EUR 279, around INR 15,300.

The Moto G5 features a 5.0-inch 1080p IPS display, powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It offers 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of storage, with support for up to 128GB via microSD. A 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 5MP front camera are included, along with a removable 2800mAh battery that supports fast charging.

The Moto G5 Plus steps things up with a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display and a more efficient 2GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor. It houses a dual 12MP camera setup at the back, designed for better low-light performance, and a 5MP front camera with auto-HDR. The G5 Plus also supports 4K video recording and comes with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, expandable to 128GB via microSD. A larger 3000mAh battery features TurboPower charging, which Motorola claims can provide 6 hours of use from just 15 minutes of charging.

Both models include Google Assistant, Moto Display, gesture controls, and a new one-hand mode exclusive to the G5 Plus. The G5 Plus also features a splash-proof coating for added protection.
