Motorola Launches Moto Z2 Play with Upgraded Specs and New Mods

Motorola has officially introduced the Moto Z2 Play, the follow-up to last year’s popular Moto Z Play flagship. The new model retains the same sleek dimensions as its predecessor to ensure full compatibility with all existing Moto Mods accessories, including last year’s Juice Pack, JBL SoundBoost, Hasselblad True Zoom, and Incipio Offgrid options.

The phone sports a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by an efficient Snapdragon 626 processor. It comes in two configurations: 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, or 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, both supporting expandable memory via microSD up to 2TB. The camera setup has been upgraded to a 12MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture and 4K video recording, paired with a 5MP front camera featuring a dual-LED flash.

Running on Android Nougat, the Moto Z2 Play includes several connectivity features such as dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and a USB-C port. A standout addition is a voice command feature that allows users to simply say “show me” followed by an app name to launch it, acting as a basic digital assistant. The device also retains a 3000mAh battery with TurboCharging support and remains splash-resistant.

Motorola has also expanded its lineup of Moto Mods accessories. New additions include the Moto GamePad, which adds an analog joystick and D-pad for gaming, along with an extra 1035mAh battery. The TurboPower Pack now features a larger 3490mAh battery with fast charging capabilities. An improved JBL SoundBoost 2 offers enhanced audio quality, and a new Moto Style Shell enables wireless charging.

Currently available in Brazil for approximately NPR 63,500, the Moto Z2 Play will soon become accessible in additional markets worldwide.
