Motorola Unveils Moto G06 With MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme Processor

Motorola has expanded its budget-friendly G series with the launch of the new Moto G06. While the device brings minor upgrades over its predecessor, it remains a solid option for users looking for an affordable smartphone. The Moto G06 sports a fresh design with new color options, including Pantone Tapestry (navy blue), Pantone Arabesque (bright orange), Pantone Tendril (green), and Pantone Laurel Oak (grey), all featuring a leather-like finish. The camera module now blends seamlessly with the back panel, and the phone adopts a teardrop notch for the selfie camera instead of a hole-punch display.

On the display front, the Moto G06 features a sizable 6.88-inch HD+ IPS screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 600 nits. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and the entire phone carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Under the hood, the Moto G06 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme processor, the same as the Helio G81 Ultra found in the Moto G05. Users can choose between 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage options of 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB, with the ability to expand further via a microSD card. The device retains the same large 5,200 mAh battery as its predecessor but sees a reduction in charging speed from 18W to just 10W, which may raise questions for some users.

Camera capabilities remain unchanged, with a 50MP main rear camera and an 8MP front camera, both capable of recording FullHD video at 30 frames per second. The Moto G06 does introduce some AI-powered features, such as Google’s Circle to Search and Gemini, along with AI enhancements for portrait and low-light photography. The phone ships with Android 15 out of the box and will receive security updates for two years, though it will not be upgraded to Android 16. Additional features include stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC support, and dual-band WiFi.

In terms of specifications, the Moto G06 measures 171.35 x 77.50 x 8.31 mm and weighs 194 grams. It includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and supports standard connectivity options such as dual SIM, WiFi 5, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB-C.

The Moto G06 is currently priced at approximately GBP 70 in the UK, translating to around USD 95 or INR 8,339. For the Nepalese market, the expected price for the base 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model is around NPR 12,999, with availability anticipated in the near future.
