Nothing Ear (3a) Debuts with Enhanced Noise Cancellation, Long Battery Life, and New Audio Snapshot Feature

Nothing has introduced the Ear (3a), the latest addition to its audio product range, placing it just below the flagship Ear (3). This new model brings several significant upgrades while retaining the transparent design that the brand is known for. Key improvements include better active noise cancellation, enhanced call quality, longer battery life, and a new Audio Snapshot feature for recording voice notes and phone calls directly from the earbuds.

The Nothing Ear (3a) sports a familiar transparent charging case and stem-style earbuds, now available in a fresh Pink color alongside Black, White, and Yellow. Each bud weighs just 4.53 grams, and the charging case is a lightweight 40.92 grams, making them easy to carry during travel. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating, offering protection against sweat and light rain, suitable for workouts and outdoor use.

Equipped with a 12mm dynamic driver featuring a PMI and TUP diaphragm, the Ear (3a) delivers rich bass, balanced mids, and clear vocals. It supports Hi-Res wireless audio with the LDAC codec, along with AAC and SBC for broad device compatibility. A standout feature is Audio Snapshot, allowing users to record conversations, meetings, or voice notes instantly with a touch gesture. These recordings use 32MB of built-in storage before syncing to the Nothing X app, where they can be transcribed using AI. The earbuds also support phone call recording, useful for interviews or important discussions.

For calls, the Ear (3a) utilizes a six-microphone setup, with three mics per bud, to ensure clear voice quality using ENC to reduce background noise. This makes them suitable for use in noisy environments.

The Ear (3a) offers up to 45dB of active noise cancellation, an improvement over previous generations, and includes Adaptive ANC that automatically adjusts based on surroundings. It also features transparency mode and low-latency mode for gaming, allowing users to switch as needed. The earbuds support dual-device connectivity, enabling simultaneous use with a phone and laptop. They are compatible with both Android and iPhone devices through the Nothing X app, which allows customization of touch gestures, ANC levels, EQ settings, and more.

In terms of battery life, the Ear (3a) has a 55mAh cell in each bud and a 500mAh cell in the charging case. Nothing claims users can enjoy up to 10 hours of playback without ANC and up to 42 hours with the charging case. With ANC enabled, playback time is up to 6 hours on a single charge and up to 25 hours with the case. The earbuds also support fast charging, with 5 minutes providing up to 1 hour of playback.

Connectivity-wise, the Ear (3a) supports Bluetooth 6, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair for quick pairing. The full specification list includes an ergonomic stem-style in-ear design with IP54 rating, 8-band EQ with custom equalizer and static spatial audio, and slide-based volume adjustment.

Although the Nothing Ear (3a) has been launched globally at USD 99, its official launch in Nepal is pending. If it does launch here, the expected price is NPR 19,999.
