Oppo Announces October Launch for Its First Smart TV in Nepal

Oppo is set to expand its product portfolio further by entering the smart TV market with its very first television set, scheduled for release in October 2020. This move follows the company’s recent expansion into wearables, including fitness bands, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds, as part of its broader strategy to build a comprehensive ecosystem of connected devices.

The rumor of Oppo developing its own smart TV first surfaced in December 2019, when reports suggested the brand was working on such a product. These claims gained credibility in June 2020 when Oppo’s Vice President, Liu Bo, confirmed that the smart TV would arrive in the second half of that year. The company later teased the TV during the launch of its Reno4 series in China and then officially announced it at the 2020 Oppo Developers Conference (ODC), where the focus was on enhancing Oppo’s IoT ecosystem through updates like ColorOS 11, Energies Action 2.0, and HeyTap features.

Although Oppo has not released official specifications, earlier reports from MyDrivers indicate that the smart TV will likely come in two screen sizes: 55 inches and 65 inches, with ten distinct models for each size. The device has already appeared in China 3c certification listings, and two remote controls bearing the model numbers RC-001D and BRC-004 have also been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG database, further supporting the upcoming launch.

As of now, Oppo has not disclosed any details regarding the TV’s technical specifications, pricing, or exact availability timeline beyond the October 2020 launch window. Once released, the Oppo Smart TV will enter a competitive market that already includes offerings from brands such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, Nokia, and Realme.
