POCO C85 Debuts in Malaysia With a Massive 6,000 mAh Battery

The POCO C85 has officially launched in Malaysia as the successor to last year's POCO C75 4G, bringing notable upgrades primarily in battery performance. This new model boasts a large 6,000 mAh battery, enhanced display brightness, and faster 33W charging, positioning it as a strong contender in the budget smartphone segment.

Design and display The POCO C85 adopts a design reminiscent of the Redmi 15C, featuring a teardrop notch, IP64 dust and splash resistance, and a boxy overall look. It weighs approximately 205 grams and comes in three color options: Purple, Black, and Green. The device sports a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Typical brightness reaches 660 nits, peaking at 810 nits for high brightness mode, marking an improvement over its predecessor's 450 nits and 600 nits.

Performance and cameras Despite its other upgrades, the POCO C85 retains the same Helio G81-Ultra chipset as the POCO C75, paired with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, with an additional microSD option for up to 1TB of expandable storage. It runs HyperOS 2 based on Android 15.

Camera capabilities remain unchanged, featuring a 50MP main camera capable of recording 1080p video at 30 frames per second, while the front camera has been downgraded from 13MP to 8MP.

Battery and additional features The standout feature of the POCO C85 is its impressive 6,000 mAh battery, a significant jump from the POCO C75's 5,160 mAh unit. Charging speeds have also improved to 33W, capable of charging half the device in about 31 minutes. The phone also supports 10W reverse wired charging, leveraging the large battery to power other devices.

Specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM support with 4G LTE, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB-C connectivity. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, and virtual proximity sensor.

Price and availability Currently available in Malaysia, the POCO C85 starts at MYR 439 (approximately USD 104 or INR 9,145) for the 6GB/128GB variant, with the 8GB/256GB model priced at MYR 499 (approximately USD 118 or INR 10,395). In Nepal, the expected starting price for the POCO C85 is NPR 14,699, with the higher-end model anticipated to cost NPR 16,699.
