POCO F8 Ultra Debuts With Dual Chipsets, Bose Audio, and Massive Battery

POCO has unveiled the F8 Ultra, its most potent smartphone yet, positioning it firmly in premium flagship territory. The device brings a host of high-end features including a dual-chipset architecture, Bose-tuned audio, and the largest battery ever seen in the F series.

The F8 Ultra measures in at 163.33 x 77.82 x 8.3mm (Denim Blue) or 7.9mm (Black), weighing 220g or 218g respectively. It sports an enormous 6.9-inch POCO HyperRGB AMOLED display with a sharp 2608 x 1200 resolution, delivering 2K-like clarity while using 19.5% less power than its predecessor. Peak brightness hits an impressive 3500 nits for outdoor visibility, with a minimum of 1 nits for nighttime comfort. The screen offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling, protected by POCO Shield Glass.

Under the hood, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset built on a cutting-edge 3nm process, featuring cores clocked up to 4.6GHz. It also incorporates a VisionBoost D8 chipset working in tandem with the main processor, unlocking gaming enhancements such as Smart Frame Rate up to 120 FPS, Super Resolution up to 1.5K, and Game HDR. The VisionBoost D8 introduces a GEX module enabling AI Super Resolution for select titles including Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Honkai: Star Rail.

Cooling is handled by a dual-layer IceLoop system covering 6700mm², with convex channels targeting heat from both the mainboard and camera module. The audio experience is elevated by Bose technology, featuring a triple-speaker setup arranged in a 2.1-channel layout with dual symmetric speakers and a tablet-level subwoofer. Users can choose between "Dynamic" for rich bass and "Balanced" for clearer vocals, with support for Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Wireless, and Dolby Atmos.

Photography capabilities advance significantly over the F8 Pro, with a versatile quad-camera array. The main shooter is a 50MP Light Fusion 950 sensor with OIS and a large 1/1.31" sensor. The standout feature is a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto lens offering true 5x optical zoom, 10x in-sensor zoom, and up to 20x UltraZoom, with focus as close as 30cm. Additional cameras include a 50MP ultra-wide and a 32MP front camera with an auto 0.8x wide-angle mode for group shots. The system also offers motion tracking and a "Super Moon Mode" that activates at 20x zoom for detailed lunar photography.

Powering the device is a massive 6500mAh battery, the largest ever in the F series, promising over 15 hours of continuous use or more than 10 hours of gaming and calls. Charging options are versatile, with 100W wired HyperCharge carried over from the Pro, plus new 50W wireless HyperCharge and 22.5W reverse charging capabilities. Smart Charging technology optimizes power delivery based on battery level, temperature, and active applications.

The F8 Ultra runs Android 16 with Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 interface, featuring HyperIsland for multitasking, HyperConnect for cross-device file sharing, and HyperAI with writing tools and Gemini integration. Connectivity includes eSIM support, Xiaomi Astral Communication with Surge T1S and T1+ tuners plus offline communication up to 1km range, Bluetooth 6.0, and Wi-Fi 7.

In Nepal, the POCO F8 Ultra will start at NPR 120,000 for the 12GB + 256GB model, with the 16GB + 512GB variant expected around NPR 135,000. The phone will be available in Denim Blue and Black color options.
