Realme 5s Launched with Enhanced 48MP Camera and New Design Options

Realme has introduced the 5s, a refined version of its popular Realme 5 smartphone. The most notable improvement comes from its camera setup, where the primary sensor has been upgraded from 12MP to a robust 48MP Samsung GM1 unit. The rest of the quad-camera system carries over unchanged, including an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.

In terms of design, the Realme 5s adds a fresh Crystal Red color option to the existing Purple and Blue variants. However, unlike the original Realme 5, this model is limited to a single 4GB RAM configuration, though users can still choose between 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The device retains a dedicated microSD card slot, supporting expansion up to 256GB.

Other specifications remain consistent with the Realme 5, featuring a 6.5-inch HD IPS LCD display, the Snapdragon 665 chipset, and a sizable 5000mAh battery. The phone also includes common sensors like a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

Pricing for the Realme 5s starts at $139 for the base 4GB/64GB model, with the 4GB/128GB variant costing $153. The phone will initially launch in India on November 29, while its availability in Nepal has yet to be confirmed. Positioned between the Realme 5 and the higher-end Realme 5 Pro, the 5s offers a compelling trade-off, swapping the Pro's more powerful processor for a superior camera setup. Whether consumers will favor the enhanced photography or opt for the Pro's better performance remains to be seen.
