Xiaomi Nepal has officially unveiled the Redmi 12, positioning it as a compelling budget smartphone with impressive specs and storage options. The device features a spacious 6.79-inch IPS display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 550 nits, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The screen uses a hole-punch design for the front camera, which gives it a modern appearance while avoiding the older dewdrop notch style common in this price range.

Under the hood, the Redmi 12 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 processor, built on a 12nm process. This chipset includes two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, providing decent performance for everyday tasks and casual gaming, including stable frame rates in popular mobile games. The phone comes with generous storage configurations, starting at 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage and scaling up to 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, giving it a clear advantage in a crowded market segment. It runs on Android 13 with Xiaomi's MIUI 14 interface out of the box.

For photography, the Redmi 12 boasts a triple rear camera system. The main camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. On the front, an 8MP camera sits within a hole-punch cutout, ideal for selfies and video calls.

In terms of design, the Redmi 12 sports a metal-quoted plastic frame combined with a reflective glass panel, which Xiaomi refers to as its "Crystal Glass Design." The phone weighs 198.5 grams and features a flat-edge design similar to the Redmi Note 12 Turbo or POCO F5, giving it a slightly premium feel despite its budget positioning. It also carries an IP53 rating for dust and water splash resistance.

The Redmi 12 is available in three color options: Midnight Black, Sky Blue, and Polar Silver. Pricing in Nepal starts at NPR 17,999 for the 6/128GB variant, while the higher-end 8/256GB model is priced at NPR 20,999. The phone can be purchased from authorized Xiaomi retail outlets across the country.
