Xiaomi Launches Redmi A2+ in Nepal With Entry-Level Power and Fingerprint Security

Xiaomi has expanded its budget smartphone lineup in Nepal with the launch of the Redmi A2+, a successor to last year’s Redmi A1+. The new model retains a similar design to its predecessor, with a leather-textured back and a dual-camera setup, but adds a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.

The Redmi A2+ sports a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD display with thick bezels and a teardrop notch for the front camera. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 4G chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU paired with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Storage options include 2GB or 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB or 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Running on Android 12 Go Edition, the phone promises two years of security updates. Camera-wise, the device offers an 8MP primary rear camera with a depth sensor, along with a 5MP front camera. A sizable 5000mAh battery supports the device, although charging is limited to 10W via a micro USB port. The phone also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio support.

In Nepal, the Redmi A2+ starts at NPR 11,499 for the base 2GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, while the higher-end 3GB RAM and 64GB storage model is priced at NPR 11,999. The phone is now available through authorized Redmi stores across the country.
