Redmi Note 11 Review: A Budget Contender with Strengths and Trade-offs

The Redmi Note 11 positions itself as an affordable option for users prioritizing multimedia and battery life over raw performance. Its standout feature is the 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, which boasts a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, vivid colors via DCI-P3 gamut support, and robust brightness levels for outdoor use. This screen, combined with stereo speakers that deliver balanced audio without significant bass, makes the phone excellent for media consumption. The battery endurance is equally impressive, lasting a full day on a single charge and charging rapidly with the included 33W adapter.

However, the phone's performance is a notable drawback. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, it falls short of its predecessor, the Redmi Note 10, in processing power. Gaming performance is particularly affected, with PUBG Mobile limited to Balanced graphics and Medium frame rates, and occasional stuttering in titles like Mobile Legends. Everyday tasks such as browsing and social media run smoothly, but the overall experience is constrained by the processor's limitations.

Camera performance remains middling. The quad-camera system is led by a 50MP primary sensor that produces decent images in bright conditions through pixel binning, but results are inconsistent in dimmer lighting. The 8MP ultrawide and additional 2MP sensors add little value, and night photography suffers from excessive noise even with Night Mode enabled. The 13MP selfie camera yields flat, muted images that lack vibrancy.

Software-wise, the Redmi Note 11 ships with MIUI 13 based on Android 11. While the interface benefits from the 90Hz display and 180Hz touch sampling, it still feels unfinished. Some users encounter frustrating Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and the device has not yet received the Android 12 update, unlike older models. Pre-installed apps can be uninstalled, but RAM management leaves much to be desired.

Priced from NPR 22,999 for the base model, the Redmi Note 11 offers compelling value for users focused on display quality, audio, and battery life. However, gamers and photography enthusiasts may find it lacking, and the performance downgrade compared to the Note 10 makes the higher cost somewhat justified only for its display upgrades.
