Xiaomi Unveils Redmi Pad 2 Pro With Large Display and Robust Performance

Xiaomi has just unveiled the Redmi Pad 2 Pro during its September 2025 global event, alongside the 15T series. This tablet boasts a large 12.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, delivering approximately 249 ppi and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports Dolby Vision for enhanced HDR content and achieves a peak brightness of 600 nits in High Brightness Mode.

The device is built with an aluminum frame and back, giving it a premium feel compared to many plastic tablets in the same price range. It measures 279.8 x 181.7 x 7.5mm and weighs 610g, with a glass front offering Mohs level 6 protection. Consumers can choose from Graphite Gray, Silver, or Lavender Purple, with a Matte Glass version available for the higher-end model. The tablet supports magnetic stylus attachment and is compatible with Xiaomi's keyboard accessory.

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, built on a 4nm process with an octa-core setup: one performance core clocked at 2.7GHz, three cores at 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. The Adreno 810 GPU handles graphics duties. Memory configurations include 6GB RAM with 128GB storage or 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, both using UFS 2.2 technology. Notably, the tablet features a dedicated microSD card slot supporting up to 2TB cards, a feature that is becoming increasingly rare.

Audio is a standout aspect of the Redmi Pad 2 Pro, featuring a quad-speaker setup tuned with Dolby Atmos. Xiaomi claims this configuration delivers a 300% audio boost, though this may be more marketing rhetoric than literal fact. The tablet also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack supporting 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio.

Camera capabilities are modest, with both front and rear cameras offering 8MP sensors. The rear camera includes an LED flash and a color spectrum sensor, though it is not the tablet's primary focus. Video recording is capped at 1080p at 30 frames per second on both cameras.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 dual-band, Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX HD and aptX Adaptive support, and USB-C 2.0 with OTG functionality. Notably, the tablet lacks cellular connectivity, NFC, and GPS.

The tablet is equipped with a sizable 12,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi rates for over 103 hours of endurance, although real-world usage will vary. Wired charging reaches up to 33W, and the device can reverse charge other gadgets at 27W. It runs Android 15 with Xiaomi's HyperOS 2 out of the box, featuring integrations such as Google Gemini, Xiaomi HyperConnect for device syncing, and the Circle to Search function.

In terms of pricing and availability, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is set to debut in Europe starting at EUR 299 for the base 6GB + 128GB model. In Nepal, the base model is expected to launch around NPR 48,000. The higher-end 8GB + 256GB variant, which includes a Matte Glass finish, is priced at EUR 379 in Europe and anticipated to cost around NPR 60,000 in Nepal. Additional accessories such as the Smart Pen and Keyboard will also be available, priced at EUR 69 (NPR 11,000) and EUR 99 (NPR 16,000) respectively.
