The Samsung Galaxy M55 positions itself as a capable mid-range device, offering decent performance and a vibrant display, though it falls short in key areas when compared to alternatives like the Galaxy A35.

Display and Design The M55 sports a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, delivering rich colors, deep blacks, and excellent contrast. The bezels are thinner than those on the A35 and A55, and the punch-hole cutout is minimal. However, the phone’s design is basic, with a plastic frame and back that feel cheap. The lack of Gorilla Glass protection and an IP rating means it is more susceptible to scratches and damage. The in-display fingerprint sensor is a plus, though its placement can feel awkward.

Performance Powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, the M55 handles everyday tasks smoothly and performs better in gaming than the Exynos-powered A35. Games like PUBG and Genshin Impact run more fluidly, though the phone can get quite hot during extended sessions due to the absence of a vapor chamber cooling system.

Battery and Charging A sizable 5000mAh battery provides solid endurance, with around 7 hours of screen-on time under heavy use. The phone supports 45W fast charging, and Samsung Nepal includes a 25W charger in the box.

Software The M55 runs Android 14 with One UI 6.1, offering four years of OS updates and five years of security updates, along with Samsung Knox security features.

Cameras The triple rear camera setup includes a 50MP main with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro. While daytime photos are decent, the M55’s color processing is more subdued compared to the A35’s vibrant style. Nighttime photography is also weaker, with slower processing and less dynamic range. The 50MP selfie camera produces sharp, detailed shots, though 4K video recording lacks stabilization.

Audio and Haptics Stereo speakers are present but deliver bland, unexciting sound. Haptic feedback is also underwhelming, feeling buzzy and uninspired.

Verdict While the Samsung Galaxy M55 has its merits, particularly in performance and display quality, its plastic construction, average cameras, and lack of durability features make it less appealing than the Galaxy A35, which offers a premium design, better protection, and superior photography for a comparable price.
