Samsung Electronics Nepal has formally introduced the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in the local market. The base 32GB Galaxy S7 carries a price tag of NPR 77,900, while the curved-edge S7 Edge is set at NPR 88,900. Customers can secure either model through pre-booking today, with two exclusive choices: a genuine leather bag valued at NPR 20,000 or a Gear VR unit worth NPR 13,900.
In addition to the standard launch, Samsung is offering limited edition bundles for a restricted period. The S7 Edge limited edition pack, priced at NPR 1,22,000, includes the phone itself along with a Gear S2 Classic, a leather bag, and a Level U headset. Similarly, the S7 limited edition bundle costs NPR 1,08,000 and contains the same collection of accessories. Both devices will begin open sales from mid-March.
The Galaxy S7 series retains a design language similar to last year’s S6, featuring a sturdy metal frame bordered by Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front and rear. The standard S7 sports a 5.1-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, while the S7 Edge expands this to a 5.5-inch curved screen, both resolving at 2,560 by 1,440 pixels.
A notable return for this generation is the microSD card slot, absent in the S6, alongside an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Samsung wisely resisted extreme thinning, allowing both phones to house larger batteries the S7 holds a 3000mAh cell, while the Edge carries a 3600mAh unit. Combined with Android Marshmallow’s power management, the efficient Exynos processor, and the vibrant AMOLED panel, users can expect extended usage times.
Hardware-wise, Nepalese models utilize the Exynos Octa-core 8890 chip, differing from international Snapdragon 820 variants. Despite this, the processor remains robust, paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM for smooth multitasking. Both phones support fast and wireless charging out of the box.
Samsung positions the S7 and S7 Edge as market leaders in mobile photography. Although the main camera drops to 12 megapixels from the S6’s 16MP, improvements include faster autofocus, superior low-light performance, and a wider f/1.7 aperture that admits 25 percent more light. The sensor’s 1.4-micron pixels and advanced image processing help minimize blur and noise. Additional camera features include wide-angle shooting, motion panorama support, and live video streaming. A 5-megapixel front camera with the same f/1.7 wide-angle lens rounds out the photography capabilities.
Key specifications encompass Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 32GB of internal storage expandable via microSD up to 200GB, and a selection of three premium color finishes: Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium.
