Samsung Launches New Flat-Panel Odyssey Gaming Monitors for 2021

Samsung has unveiled its latest addition to the Odyssey gaming monitor series, shifting from curved to flat panels for the 2021 lineup. The new range consists of three models: the G70A, G50A, and G30A. Notably absent is a successor to the high-end G9, which may still feature a curved design.

The Odyssey G70A boasts a 28-inch UHD panel with HDR400 support and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. It highlights an ultra-low 1ms response time and works with both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The monitor includes HDMI 2.1 ports, enabling 4K at 120Hz output from modern gaming consoles.

The G50A offers a 27-inch QHD panel, pushing the refresh rate up to 165Hz. It supports HDR10 along with G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium. The most affordable model, the G30A, comes in two sizes: 27 inches and 24 inches, both supporting a 144Hz refresh rate.

Both the G70A and G50A include multi-tasking features such as Picture-by-Picture (PBP) for simultaneous gaming and chat, and Picture-in-Picture (PiP) for a virtual second screen. Additional utilities like Easy Setting Box and Auto Source Switch+ allow seamless toggling between a PC and a console. The monitors also provide Eye Saver Mode, Flicker Free technology, and other gaming enhancements.

Currently available in South Korea, the G30A is priced at KRW 315,000 for the 27-inch version and KRW 275,000 for the 24-inch model. The G70A and G50A cost KRW 950,000 and KRW 650,000 respectively. While global pricing has not yet been announced, expectations in Nepal suggest the series could start at around NPR 35,000 when they become available.
