Sony A6100 Camera Launched in Nepal With Updated Features and Affordable Pricing

The Sony A6100 has entered the Nepalese market as a fresh, beginner-friendly camera option. Designed with newcomers to photography in mind, this model brings several key improvements over older entry-level devices while keeping costs manageable.

The camera includes a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor paired with Sony’s BIONZ X image processor. It supports oversampled 4K video recording with full-pixel readout and offers a robust autofocus system, featuring real-time tracking and a 425-point hybrid autofocus setup covering 84% of the frame. Continuous burst shooting reaches speeds of up to 11 frames per second while maintaining focus on moving subjects.

However, as an entry-level model, the A6100 does have some limitations when compared to higher-end siblings like the A6600. It omits in-body image stabilization, meaning users must rely on lens-based stabilization or a tripod for steady shots. The electronic viewfinder resolves at 1.44 million dots, which is lower than the 2.36 million dots found in premium models. The ISO range tops out at 51,200, falling short of the A6600’s 102,400 maximum. Additionally, while a microphone jack is included, there is no dedicated headphone jack, and eye autofocus functionality is not available during video recording.

Currently, the Sony A6100 is officially priced at NPR 99,000 and can be found in stores along New Road in Kathmandu. This positioning makes it an accessible starting point for those looking to explore DSLR-style photography without professional-grade expenses.
