Sony RX10 V Bridge Camera Debuts With Advanced Autofocus and Superzoom Lens

Sony has introduced the RX10 V, the latest addition to its popular RX10 series of premium bridge cameras. Designed for enthusiasts and professionals alike, this model enhances autofocus, shooting speed, and video performance while keeping the fixed-lens layout that makes the series ideal for wildlife and sports photography.

The camera retains the classic bridge form factor but adopts a refined Alpha-inspired body with an improved grip and updated ergonomics. Dedicated controls such as an 8-way joystick, AF-ON button, physical aperture ring, and revised dials enable quicker adjustments, especially when tracking fast-moving subjects. A 3.68 million-dot Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder provides a clear preview, complemented by a 3.0-inch 1.62 million-dot tilting touchscreen for flexible framing.

At its heart, the RX10 V utilizes a 20.1MP 1-inch Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor paired with the BIONZ XR image processor and a dedicated AI processing unit. This setup boosts image processing, autofocus, and shooting speed while preserving detail across diverse conditions. The stacked sensor enables continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second with full autofocus and auto-exposure tracking, and a blackout-free viewfinder, making it well-suited for fast-paced environments. The ISO range spans from 100 to 12800, expandable to 64 for still images, offering flexibility in varied lighting.

The camera continues with the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm f/2.4-4.0 lens, delivering a robust 25x optical zoom. While the 1-inch sensor does not match the low-light capabilities of larger formats, Sony’s processing enhancements ensure cleaner images, natural colors, and strong detail. Macro focusing supports close-up photography, allowing detailed captures from short distances.

Video capabilities see notable upgrades, with the RX10 V recording 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second and supporting 4K at 120 frames per second for smooth slow-motion clips. It features 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording and professional color profiles such as S-Log3 and S-Cinetone, providing flexibility for post-production tuning. Improved stabilization and AI-assisted features help maintain steady footage when shooting handheld or tracking subjects. Enhanced heat management removes previous recording time limits, enabling longer continuous sessions. These improvements position the RX10 V as a practical hybrid solution for wildlife, travel, and content creation.

Powering the device is the NP-FZ100 rechargeable battery, rated for up to 630 shots per charge when using the LCD or approximately 570 shots with the electronic viewfinder. USB-C Power Delivery supports easy charging and power supply during extended shoots. Connectivity includes UHS-II SD cards for rapid data transfer, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless control and transfers, USB Type-C, micro HDMI, microphone and headphone ports, and a Multi Interface Shoe with digital audio support. The USB-C port also enables webcam use, supporting up to 4K streaming.

The Sony RX10 V is currently announced in the United States at USD 2,299.99. Although local availability remains unconfirmed, the expected price in Nepal is approximately NPR 349,799.
