TCL Note A1 NxtPaper Review

TCL has launched the Note A1 NxtPaper tablet, designed for note-taking, reading, and productivity with a distinctive paper-like display. Unlike traditional E Ink panels, TCL's NxtPaper technology delivers full color and higher refresh rates while maintaining a matte, anti-glare finish that mimics paper.

The tablet measures 260.1 × 196.5 × 5.5mm and weighs 500 grams, constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum. It features a thicker bezel on one side for easier one-handed use, a circular front button, and a single rear camera. Additional features include a fingerprint sensor, wireless display casting, and a magnetic pogo pin connector for attaching a keyboard accessory.

The 11.5-inch anti-glare LCD panel uses TCL's NxtPaper display technology, supporting 16.7 million colors with reduced blue light emission and no flickering. The device comes with a stylus that has dual tips and an integrated eraser, offering extremely low input latency for precise writing, sketching, and drawing. Handwritten notes can be converted into digital text, with AI-assisted features such as note summarization, voice transcription, and smart search.

Powered by the MediaTek G100 chipset, the Note A1 pairs with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Despite the modest processor, the tablet manages basic tasks effectively and includes a 13MP rear camera. Audio is handled by dual speakers and an eight-microphone array, supporting speech-to-text functionality. The tablet is expected to run Android with multitasking capabilities like split-screen mode and cloud syncing through Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.

A large 8000 mAh battery supports 33W fast charging via USB Type-C. Additional connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3, wireless display casting, and file transfer over LAN, USB, or cloud services.

The TCL Note A1 NxtPaper is currently available through a Kickstarter campaign priced at USD 419. If it becomes available in Nepal, pricing is expected to start at approximately NPR 60,000.
