Tecno Camon 50 Pro Arrives in Kenya With Premium Design and Camera Upgrades

Tecno has unveiled the Camon 50 Pro in Kenya, positioning it as a feature-packed upgrade to the standard Camon 50 model. While both phones share many similarities, the Pro variant distinguishes itself with a curved display, more storage space, and a bolstered camera system.

Display and Design

The Camon 50 Pro boasts a striking 6.78-inch curved AMOLED panel with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. Its curved edges follow a swan-like silhouette measuring 43.5 degrees, offering a more engaging viewing experience than the flat display found on the regular Camon 50. The phone is notably lightweight and comes in six vibrant color options: Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Ethereal Blue. It also carries robust protection with IP68/IP69/IP69K water and dust resistance and passes MIL-STD-810 durability testing.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Camon 50 Pro uses the same MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate processor as the standard model. It pairs this with 8GB of RAM but doubles the base storage to 256GB, compared to the 128GB in the regular version. Both phones share a sizable 6,150mAh battery with 45W fast charging, and Tecno promises a lifespan of over five years. The Pro model includes an advanced cooling system featuring a 12-layer graphite structure with 1,800 W/mK thermal conductivity. Tecno also highlights its AI game engine optimization, which supports popular titles such as PUBG, MLBB, FreeFire, and COD.

Camera System

Where the Camon 50 Pro truly stands out is its camera setup. It features a triple rear system: a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C Ultra Night Camera with OIS, a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens also with OIS, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. In contrast, the standard Camon 50 retains only a dual-camera arrangement, omitting the telephoto lens. Both models share a 32MP front camera with studio-level tone and support for AI features such as 60X Super Zoom, FlashSnap Super Zoom, AI Auto Zoom, Live Photo Mode, and AI LightMaster 2.0. Additional camera-centric features include Water Mode (effective up to 2 meters for 30 minutes), One-Tap FlashMemo, and PhotoSpace 3D for AI-driven video generation from images.

Connectivity and Additional Features

Connectivity remains consistent between the Pro and standard models, though neither supports 5G due to the underlying SoC. Sensors include ambient light, proximity, compass, geomagnetic, and A+G sensors. The phone features dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Extra utilities consist of a One-Tap TECNO AI key, TECNO AI Cloud offering 50GB of free storage per year for three years, 3D live wallpapers, a dynamic home screen, and an offline find-my-phone function via the Geniex network.

Price and Availability

In Kenya, the Camon 50 Pro is priced between KES 38,999 and KES 44,000, with pre-orders already open and sales scheduled to begin on February 23. For Nepal, we anticipate a starting price of no less than NPR 50,000 once the device becomes available.
