Vivo Debuts OriginOS 6, a Fresh Android 16 Upgrade for Global Phones

Vivo has announced OriginOS 6, its latest software platform built on Android 16, marking the end of its former Funtouch interface. Unveiled at the company’s annual developer conference alongside BlueOS 3 and CarLink 3.0, OriginOS 6 brings a complete design refresh, a set of AI-driven tools, and performance boosts for a smoother experience.

Visual Redesign and Customization

The most noticeable change in OriginOS 6 is its visual overhaul, which Vivo describes as having a “spatial and layered feel.” The home screen, lock screen, and app layouts now showcase smoother curves and more balanced spacing. Many users note similarities to Apple’s Liquid Glass style, though Vivo points to its own Aquamorphic design language introduced back in 2022 with ColorOS 13. Regardless of inspiration, the new interface offers curved widgets, rounded icons, and extensive home screen customization choices.

Performance and Responsiveness

To improve speed and responsiveness, OriginOS 6 integrates Vivo’s Blue River Smooth Engine. This engine works with a dual rendering architecture that makes animations and app transitions feel noticeably faster. Overall system performance is expected to be more fluid compared to earlier versions.

Smart AI Features

OriginOS 6 includes several AI capabilities designed to simplify everyday tasks. A new AI phone assistant can summarize information and understand on-screen context. Photo tools now support AI-based object and person removal, even from live photos, as well as image resolution enhancement. Additional helpers include Circle to Search 2.0, automated content summaries, and a picture-to-PDF converter—all reducing the need for third-party apps.
