Motiv introduced a groundbreaking wearable at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, winning the Best of Innovation award for Wearable Technologies. This titanium-plated ring, available in slate-grey or rose-gold, offers comprehensive fitness tracking in an understated package. Measuring 8mm wide and 2.5mm thick, it comes in seven standard sizes and is fully waterproof.

The ring incorporates three key sensors: an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, and a smart LED sensor. The accelerometer detects motion and triggers the heart rate sensor, which sits at the ring’s base. A small band on the ring displays a tri-colour light during syncing or charging. Using the wearer’s pulse, the device automatically records active minutes, distance traveled, calories burned, activity type, and sleep patterns including resting heart rate.

Data storage lasts up to three days, reducing the need for frequent app synchronization. Battery life spans 3 to 5 days, and charging takes just 90 minutes using one of two compact USB-based chargers — one can even be kept on a keyring. All collected information transmits to a well-designed iOS app that combines precise statistics with attractive visuals, breaking down daily activities into clear segments and detailed graphs.
