HMD Launches Entry-Level Watch X1 and Watch P1 Fitness Smartwatches

HMD Global has debuted its inaugural smartwatches, the Watch X1 and Watch P1, marking the company's entry into the wearable technology market. These devices are designed as entry-level fitness trackers, emphasizing essential health monitoring and long battery endurance.

The Watch X1 sports a circular design with a vibrant 1.43-inch AMOLED display, offering a sharp 466 by 466 resolution and a peak brightness of 600 nits. It includes Always On Display functionality and animated watch faces, measures 46.5 by 46.5 by 11 millimeters, weighs approximately 65.5 grams, and accommodates 22 millimeter straps. The watch is protected by an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and is available in Gray Green, Black, Gray Metallic, and Silver Leather color options.

In contrast, the Watch P1 adopts a rectangular form factor with a larger 1.83-inch LCD panel, resolving 240 by 284 pixels and emitting a peak brightness of 550 nits. It carries an IP67 rating for dust and limited water protection and comes in Black and Silver finishes.

Both models support Bluetooth calling, offering users the ability to take calls directly from their wrists, along with notification mirroring, music control capabilities, and ICE (in-case-of-emergency) assistance. They also feature comprehensive health and fitness tracking, including heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) measurement, sleep analysis, and access to over 700 different sports modes. Additional health-oriented features such as inactivity alerts and hydration reminders enhance user wellness management. However, it is important to note that neither device incorporates built-in GPS, meaning outdoor activity tracking depends on a connected smartphone for accurate location data.

Battery performance varies between the two models, with the Watch X1 promising up to five days of usage on a single charge, while the Watch P1 manages approximately four days. Both utilize lithium-polymer batteries and rely on proprietary magnetic charging solutions.

Software-wise, the watches operate on a proprietary real-time operating system (RTOS), which limits functionality compared to more advanced platforms such as Wear OS. Consequently, features like NFC for contactless payments are absent.

At this time, HMD has not disclosed specific pricing or detailed availability information for the Watch X1 and Watch P1 in Nepal.
