Honor has introduced the new Watch GS 5, positioned as the latest generation in health-focused wearables. Succeeding the GS 4, this model brings notable upgrades in cardiac monitoring capabilities and battery endurance.

Design and Display

The GS 5 retains the familiar round face from previous GS series models but adopts a more compact form. It measures just 9.9 millimeters thick and weighs a mere 26 grams, making it 20 grams lighter than its predecessor. While official details are pending, the watch appears to continue using a high-quality 1.43-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 by 466 pixels.

Health Innovations

The standout addition is Honor's claim of an industry-first "Sudden Cardiac Arrest Screening" function. This feature analyzes heart rhythm and physiological data to detect potentially dangerous irregularities. The watch also includes a Cardiovascular Risk Assessment tool that tracks long-term heart health trends and issues early warnings about possible future risks. Honor emphasizes these tools are supportive only and not substitutes for medical diagnosis.

Performance and Battery

Battery life sees a major boost, with up to 23 days on a single charge when using Bluetooth connectivity, nearly double the 14-day runtime of the GS 4. The GS 5 runs standard health suite features including heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, stress levels, and sleep analysis. It also adds travel-related alerts for flights, high-speed trains, and taxi services.
