Huawei Mobiles Nepal has announced a major price reduction for the GR5 smartphone ahead of the Dashain festival. The device is now available for just NPR 24,499, a notable drop from its original launch price of NPR 33,999 six months ago. As part of the festive promotion, customers receive a free gift box along with a ring phone stand and earphones.

The promotion does not stop there. Huawei is also running a lucky draw system where participating customers can win exciting prizes on a weekly and fortnightly basis. Potential rewards include power banks, Huawei smartphones, cycles, Vespa scooters and even Royal Enfield motorcycles.

The Huawei GR5 remains one of the strongest options in the sub NPR 30,000 Android segment. It sports a 5.5-inch FullHD IPS LCD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, which includes a dual quad-core setup (1.7GHz and 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores) along with an Adreno 405 GPU. Storage options include 16GB of internal memory plus a microSD card slot supporting up to 64GB extra space (using the second SIM slot).

Design-wise, the GR5 features a slim 0.8mm aluminum unibody that feels premium for its price point. Photography capabilities include a 13MP rear camera with a smart image 3.0 processor and a 5MP front camera offering an f/2.2 aperture, 22mm wide-angle lens, 4P lens construction, blue glass filter and an impressive 88-degree wide angle view. Powering the device is a sizable 3000mAh battery that supports quick charging 3.0 technology. A notable security feature is the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, capable of unlocking the phone in just half a second and performing various functions such as answering calls, silencing alarms, viewing and clearing notifications, and capturing photos.
