Intex Aqua Star II Budget Smartphone Arrives in Nepal

Intex Mobiles, an Indian smartphone brand, has officially launched the Intex Aqua Star II in Nepal, setting the price at NPR 12,999. The device is now accessible through various Intex retail locations nationwide.

Available in white, black, blue, and grey, the Aqua Star II targets budget-conscious users. According to Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, head of mobile business at Intex Technologies, the model incorporates advanced sensor technology alongside a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and an 8MP camera, positioning it as an appealing choice for younger audiences.

Key specifications include a 5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, powered by a Mediatek MT6589 chipset and a 1.2GHz Quad Core Cortex A7 processor. It offers 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage expandable via microSD up to 32GB, and a dual SIM setup supporting 3G on the first slot and 2G on the second. Camera capabilities consist of an 8MP rear unit with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The phone runs on Android KitKat version 4.4.2 and includes connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and A-GPS with GLONASS, backed by a removable 2000 mAh battery.

While the standout feature is the 5-megapixel front camera, the device’s lower resolution screen may deter some buyers. Competitors in the same price bracket, such as the Huawei Honor Holly and Xiaomi Redmi 1s, provide superior display quality. Additionally, the use of the outdated Android KitKat operating system is a drawback, as several alternatives under NPR 15,000 run Android Lollipop.
