Apple iPhone 13 mini: Specifications and Nepal Pricing Update

The Apple iPhone 13 mini arrived in Nepal in November 2022 but has since been discontinued due to low demand for compact-sized smartphones. Below is a detailed look at its design, performance, camera features, and the pricing that applied while it was available locally.

Design and Display

The iPhone 13 mini is slightly thicker and heavier than its predecessor but remains a slim and portable option. It retains the familiar flat-edge design with rounded corners and an aluminum frame. The device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Its 5.4-inch OLED screen boasts improved brightness, peaking at 1200 nits during HDR playback, up from 800 nits normally. Apple has also reduced the size of the front notch by 20 percent and rearranged the dual-camera setup diagonally on the rear.

Performance and Memory

Powered by the A15 Bionic chip, built on a 5nm process, the iPhone 13 mini includes 15 billion transistors. Apple claims the CPU delivers a 50 percent performance boost over leading competitors, while the GPU offers a 20 percent advantage. The new 16-core neural engine processes up to 15.8 trillion operations per second, enhancing machine learning capabilities. Storage options include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB configurations.

Camera

The rear camera setup features a primary wide lens with a larger sensor and 1.7-micron pixels, capturing 47 percent more light for brighter, noise-free images. Sensor-shift optical image stabilization, previously seen in the iPhone 12 Pro Max, is included. The ultra-wide camera remains unchanged. Video recording supports Dolby Vision HDR up to 4K at 30 frames per second, and a new Cinematic mode uses machine learning to automatically adjust focus between subjects. Users can also edit focus after recording using apps like Photos or iMovie. The front camera is a 12-megapixel TrueDepth sensor with Cinematic mode and Smart HDR 4 support.

Battery and Additional Features

The device houses a larger 2,406 mAh battery, which Apple states can extend offline video playback by approximately two hours compared to the iPhone 12 mini. It uses the Lightning port for charging, though adapters are not included in the box. Other features include stereo speakers, 5G connectivity, and FaceID facial recognition.

When available, the iPhone 13 mini started at NPR 122,990 for the 128GB model, with the 256GB variant priced at NPR 139,990. Unfortunately, both variants are now out of stock and no longer sold in Nepal.
