After spending over ten days with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it's clear that Apple has taken a cautious approach with this year's update. While the device offers some notable improvements, particularly in display quality and battery life, it also highlights the growing gap between iPhone iterations and the rapid innovation seen in competing Android flagships.

Design and Camera Button

The most talked-about feature this year is the new camera button, intended to streamline photo capture. However, its placement feels awkward, especially for users with smaller hands, and the shortcuts it offers have been difficult to adapt to. Many users, including myself, find it easier to use traditional on-screen controls. The button can also cause accidental camera activations, though this can be mitigated by setting it to require a double-press. At present, the button's functionality is limited, with many promised AI features still unavailable.

Charging speeds remain consistent with earlier models, reaching approximately 55% in 30 minutes and full charge in about two hours. Notably, all iPhone 16 models now support 25W MagSafe wireless charging, a welcome addition for users preferring cable-free charging options.

Performance

The A18 Pro chipset delivers a noticeable improvement in stability and sustained performance over the A17 Pro, with better thermal management thanks to an enlarged graphite sheet.
